ABOUT GARLAND GUITARS

My luthier journey began when I was 18. I made my first acoustic guitar with Dave Oddy a local Devon Luthier. His skill and craftsmanship sparked my enthusiasm for luthiery and repair. I continued my journey at Exeter Music Shop selling guitars, amps, effects pedals, books you name it. But frustrated by the lack of attention to the playability of the instruments when they arrived in store, I took it upon myself to learn; how to set-up and service a guitar; how to fret dress; how to wire in pickups, and change pots and tone caps. This led me to Exeter's renowned guitar shop, Mansons where I gained experience and knowledge for advanced repairs and restorations. Within a few years I was re fretting, fixing full headstock breaks, re-setting necks, applying new binding, planing bridges just to name a few. Twenty years later I decided to strike out on my own. I started Garland Guitars in 2019 turning my first love into a full-fledged business offering the highest quality guitar repair, restoration and full custom builds.
